Confirmation
Confirmation,
another wonderful sacrament of the Catholic
Church. This sacrament is said to complete
Baptism.
The best
illustration of confirmation in the Bible is
presented to us in the Acts of the Apostles.
Acts
8:14-17 Now when the apostles in
Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the
word of God, they sent them Peter and John,
who went down and prayed for them, that they
might receive the holy Spirit, for it had not
yet fallen upon any of them; they had only
been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Then they laid hands on them and they
received the holy Spirit.
Isaiah
11:2
The spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him: a
spirit of wisdom and of understanding, A
spirit of counsel and of strength, a spirit
of knowledge and of fear of the LORD
This passage
clearly illustrates that Peter and John went to
Samaria to further bless those who have been
baptized. That blessing was the laying on of
hands also known as Confirmation.
