Q. What is your past and present involvement with Youth?
A. Well, I have been involved in some capacity with youth groups for a long time. I was a teen leader way back in the late 80's, probably not the best leader back then, I had no clue what I was doing, I even got into an accident on the way to a ski trip while driving a priest's car.
I've also taught CCD for many years, from first grade to tenth.
I was a team leader on a couple of CLI's (Christian Leadership Institute) as well as having been an adult leader at St. Ann's Raynham youth back in the early 90's. I even got a Youth Ministry certificate of training from the Fall River diocese.
St. Mary's youth group in Taunton was another area I was involved in. The best part of that was attending Steubenville East twice with a group of teens, that was as much of a moving experience for me as it was for the group!
For the past six years I have been a Den leader at Cub Scouts Pack 11 in Raynham. I've also coached baseball for 4 years as well as coaching soccer for 5 years for both my sons teams.
Q. What are some of the things you like to do, you know, as hobbies?
A. I enjoy fishing, fly fishing, bass fishing, all kinds of fishing. I also like to coach soccer, I've coached my kids teams for 4 or 5 years now. I even like to play , I'm not that good but that's ok, it's still fun. Geocaching is also a LOT of fun. I like hiking, biking, hanging outside by the campfire with the kids.
Q. So what do you do to make a living, you know, earn cash and support the family?
A. Oh, I work at Medical Information Technology Inc. I work in their Canton facility. I started there March 20, 1989 as a programmer. I'm currently a Security Analyst. I like that title, sounds like I have a dangerous job but I really just sit on my rear all day working with computers.
Q. Do you have any other family or extended family?
A. Sure, I have a wife, Allison who's been a great wifey and friend since October 8, 1989, two kids named Ian and Adam and we are in the process of adopting a girl from China. Her name will probably be Faith. I have an older brother and a younger brother as well.
Q. What is your favorite Bible verse?
A. Oh, that changes but currently it is Acts 20:7-12
7 On the first day of the week 3 when we gathered to break bread, Paul spoke to them because he was going to leave on the next day, and he kept on speaking until midnight.
8 There were many lamps in the upstairs room where we were gathered,
9 and a young man named Eutychus who was sitting on the window sill was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. Once overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and when he was picked up, he was dead.
10 Paul went down, 4 threw himself upon him, and said as he embraced him, "Don't be alarmed; there is life in him."
11 Then he returned upstairs, broke the bread, and ate; after a long conversation that lasted until daybreak, he departed.
12 And they took the boy away alive and were immeasurably comforted.
I love how this poor guy Eutychus is listening to Paul go on and on past midnight and kind of dozing off! Reminds me of me sometimes. Then he falls asleep and falls to his death, but the cool thing is Paul isn't offended that Eutychus fell asleep while Paul was droning on and on, in fact, Paul brings Eutychus back to life so there is hope for me if I doze off while reading scripture or listening to somebody preach!!!!
